Default Compression Ratio's

I need some help. i am wanting to use CTR pistons in my gsr block. i have stock gsr rods/crank and a b16 head with stock cams. i was wanting to know about what compression ratio would that put me at. I have read everything from 11.1:1 all the way up to 12.5:1 so any info that you have will be very helpful. thanks

wow- that gave me 12.74 to 1 and that is without the head or block being shaved. what is the highest that you can run with 93 oct pump gas?

doesn't the highst octane rating for pump gas only go up to 91? Isn't it 87, 89, and 91 octane at the pumps?

You can run that on pump. You'll have to pull timing though. So i would recommend two tunes then. One on 93 and one on race gas, so when you race you can have the most out of the high compression.

If you gonna run the car on pump gas, ditch the CTR's.

i appreciate all the info. i think i will use the ctr pistons and then try the 2 different tunes. also in order to run that kinda compression efficently and get the max performance - is there any major thing else that yall might recomend me use (etc. ignition, exhaust size- anything at all)?

for the OP ive found that website to a little on the high side with their calculator. You can always adjust comression through the headgasket as well

This is actually what you want to look at...searching the archives is amazing isn't it?

Check back on the very first page of this thread link and you'll see that you're looking at about 12.58:1 compression.

If your planning on running 12:1 compression ratio it is advisable to get retuned on season change like winter->summer and vise versa to make sure your tune is reliable and not pinging. Fuel also changes in the winter which is a big deal.
