is all the salesman stupid ?
today i just ran to acura dealer. and i ask the salesman when will rsx-r be here and guess what he told me. he ran ask another salesman and they came up with this answer " rsx type-s is a type-r" and i told them type-s isnt a type-r in japan they have type-r. so they told me "yes in japan they call type-r in here we call type-s they are the same thing" so i just kinda walk out the dealer without asking anymore questions.
come on man if you are the salesman at least try to know something about the cars u are selling...........

Should have shouted:
"You guys don't know what you're talking about. You just stand around all day passing off false information to potential customers. I don't know why any informed buyer would purchase anything from this dealership."
Make sure everyone in the showroom can hear you.

I love walking into dealerships, asking about a certain car (S2000. Si. type R, WRX, etc) and listening to what they have to say. The answers they give are sometimes downright amazing. One lady tried to sell me on the cars maintenance free battery. The absolute BEST is when they ignore you as just some punk kid wishing he had the car, then pointing at the R and showing them a check saying you woulda traded in and bought the car right then if he hadnt been such a ignorant salesman. They will drop their jaws.
I had a similar experience when at the Honda dealer. I was at the dealer with my girl friend looking at some new civics when the salesman came over and started talking about the car. I asked him does this one have vtec? And he said what is vtec is that some type of fuel? And I was like wtf? And I just told him we are just looking to get him to go away. Anyways, some of those salesman don't know **** about the cars they are selling. I agree with you guys 100%.
sales people are their to sell cars. people go there to buy cars.
why do you ask question if you have no intention on buying a car from them?
i dont sell cars, but i do sell other things, i hate "larrys, or strokers, or tards" who come in to ask lame questions but have no intention on purchasing things from me.
true to some degree, the local dealers around here are fairly knowledgable. actually some people in the parts department are even more knowledgable

Stupid salesmen **** me off... Two recent examples to prove my point:
(1) Went to the dealership to check out the new RSX-S, and the salesmen tried to tell me it was a 20 Liter motor, and that the period between 2.0 was a comma in Japan...
(2) Two days ago went to check out a FBP '00 ITR at the local dealership, salesman told me it had never been raced, it was a daily driver.. As soon as a opened the driver's side door, the first thing I noticed was that the gas and clutch pedal's rubber was worn down to the metal....

I guess you dont USE your clutch and gas pedals do you.
Anyway, all dealer salesmen are ignorant, so are all dealer mechanics.
Taking your car to the dealer for service is just ASKING for trouble.
Heard from a salesman at Honda in Costa Mesa, CA:
"The Honda Civic Si basically has an integra engine.."
OMG did i school him...liters, specs...gearing.
but he was cool headed about it..he was just mis-informed,
from what he told me...and i believed him...because he
sounded quite surprised to hear what i had to say..
i just hate it when they are cocky and think they know it all.
atleast my dumbass dealer was cool about it...puahahaha
for that he gets a

Not all salemen are dumb...some are enthusiasts...rare but I know a few of them. I will be one soon. Same with mechanics/technicians. We have some excellent guys who know lots about performance tuning....99% is too much...maybe 75%

I rather buy from a dumb *** salesman who have no clue about the R, they are the ones who let it go for MSRP/NADA or less. The ones who know about the car and the market for it, will jack up the price like *****.

Gas pedal has no rubber. It's plastic. How can you wear thru that?

Me and my friend were shopping for a prelude.
We asked what the difference between the base and SH were.
He said just he wheels and spoiler.
We asked if the suspension set lower. He wasn't sure, lets measure. I asked about the Active Torque Transfer System, and he looked like a deer in headlights. Sad...

I have had better luck using the Internet sales folk. Many dealers now have a salesman or two on staff who solely handle email and website inquiries. They tend to be a bit more knowledgeable, and friendlier, too.
Like any profession, you have your good ones and bad ones. Shame the bad ones seem to greatly outnumber the good

Well in defense of car salesmen. I sell Jaguar/Land Rover, and I love it when "know-it-all" geeks think they can come in and quiz me. THEN I BURY THEM IN MY VAST KNOWLEDGE OF CARS!!! BBUUUWWWAAAAHHHH!!!!!
I went to some acura dealer and test drove an rsx type S.. I was talkgin to the dude.. and was like when does vtec kick in in here cus u can;t really notice it that much int eh type S and he was like oh vtec? I beleive it kicks in round 3000... lol... felt bad for the guy.. but I think it was his first day.. and he was helal chill.. but it was funny none the less
One of my favorite storys, was when I was looking for an R. I found a black one up at a dealer in Sacramento. I went up there in my Dads '00 TL (Taffeta White, spoiler, tints, Chrome Acura Wheels, etc). I parked, and was looking at the Integras in the lot. Dude comes up, usual BS. He's like we have 3 models, LS, GS, and GSR. I'm like well I'm interested in your 4th model. He said Ah... Let's go inside. So I'm thinking positivly at the moment. So we go in, and I'm looking at it, asking some questions. He says excuse me, and disapears to talk to another customer! I'm like WTF? I wanna buy it, but I could tell it was gonna take a lot of work cause they had a mark up on it. I'm standing by the car (with the helpless consumer look on my face) waiting for the sales guy to come back. 10 mins. I'm like **** it and walk out. I just said bye to him as I was walking out the door, and he's like have a nice day sir! Then he saw me driving away in the TL, and literally RAN over to me, and started sucking up. It was so funny... I told him flat out, "I am only willing to pay 500 over invoice for the car, can you do it?" He said nope, so I drove away. I was pissed, but then to see him run and suck up made it all better. Except I didn't get the R...
