does anyone know what that cut hose is suposed to go to?

and my buddy has a H22 EK hatch. just the other day he was driving normally, not beating on the car, down the road and it got stuck in 2nd gear.. for some reason it wont come out from in side the car. i have to push on one cable and pull on the other one to get it back out and now it gets stuck everyonse in a while and has to drive here in 2nd gear.. anyone know what made it happen abnd how to fix it? please need it done asap..

 

you talking about the hose on the shifter housing? if so thats just a vent tube....
