05 accord brake question????
I have an 05 Accord coupe V6 EX with Nav. it also has the HFP package on it. With 36000 miles. My question is while braking at 60mph or above I get a pulsating feeling though the steering wheel. The higher I go above 60 the worse it is. Below 60 I feel nothing at all. I have replaced both front rotors and brakes with new ones. I even checked to see how much run out is on the rotors while I turn them by hand. There was .002 run out on the right side and .003 on run out left side. I though this was pretty good, but I may be wrong. What else good be the problem?? How about the tires?? The tires on it now are some brand i never heard of before Triangle Talon???? I would hate to spend $800 on good tires that are not needed yet. Looking for help.
Thanks
Thanks
Tires wont cause a pulsation or shake only when braking, they dont work like that. Check the rear brakes as well. How exactly did you check runout on the rotors?
Warped brake pads, common problems amongst 7th gens. I replaced my brakes with a decent aftermarket set of rotors and pads for 240 bucks and did install myself, which is not difficult if you had a lift and power tools like I did. Even still with a jack and common power tools its not too difficult. You can even have them replaced with OEM rotors and pads, but its a lost cause, because it will only happen over again.
I replaced the rotors and pads with aftermarket items and I did them my self. It was pretty easy. As far as checking the run out on the rotors, I am a machinist so I have access to a bunch of measuring stuff. All I did was put a test indicator on the rotor and watched it as I spun the rotor. I even checked both sides of the rotor.
I glad to hear the tires shouldn't affect my brake problem. I guess I will check the rotors on the back this weekend.
Thanks for the help

It's not a problem with your rotors, your rotors are fine, you could have used them except most aftermarket brake pads are recommended with an aftermarket rotor. Its the compound the pads are made out of, and they warp faster than normal, causing the high speed shaking in the steering column while braking.
Oh wait I just read closer on your first post, that you had already swapped them with aftermarket ones. If you are still having that problem then I am stumped. It COULD be tires, and they were misaligned after you got them making them get a bad wear pattern. You could check that by running your hands over the tire and you can definetly tell if they are misworn. I know I can tell with mine as they are approaching 27k+ miles.

Again, tires wont shake ONLY on braking. If the tread has uneven wear, then it will either shake all the time, or just get progressivly worse as speed increases. Tires dont only shake during braking.
