Default crankshaft pulley removal Help!!!!

first question is how are most people getting this off, and second question, is it regularly threaded or reverse threaded? thanks in advance.

get a decent size impact with a compressor that can handle it and whale on it.

remember.... doesnt matter how much torque your air tools can do if you have a shitty compressor

either that or get creative to rig something up to keep the flywheel from moving and get a huge breaker bar along with a big pipe/cheater bar/ if needed and give it everything you got. If the engine is out of the bay, its best to have another person hold the motor.

when i took it off of my sohc zc the motor was on an engine stand with a huge screwdriver pried on the flywheel bolts and the stand. It took a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and a jack handle to break it lose and that was after bending a couple craftsmen screwdrivers.

Also, make sure the socket you use is a six-point and fits the bolt tightly..
If it has play, the force of the impact is lost...

best way i found to do it is just jack the driver side up. put the tranny is 5th gear. have someone hold the break and you use all your force on a breaker bar to break it loose.

ive though about that the other day and was wondering if that would work if the motor would spin the way to break it loose.

I've went at it for two days now with a impact gun and nothing. I'm going to get a long extension and a long pipe and see if that works. I'm about ready to take it to a shop and pay to get it removed. I really got to replace my timming belt soon.

I spent ~4 hrs. trying to get mine out with an impact gun. I finally decided to take to a shop with bigger equipment and they had it off within a minute. I say take to a shop if you have already tried for a couple hours.

I used my 240lb/ft impact and could not budge it.
I ened up taking it to a shop for them to hit it with their big mama impact wrench. Even then they said it was tight.

From what I have heard you are less likely to damage the shaft if you impact it off instead of muscling it

to get mine off I used a 3 foot breaker bar and stood on the bar and jumped on it a little and it broke loose. Get someone who is really fat to stand on the bar

you need a chain wrench. it will be your friend

i used this, a shop rag around the crank, and a 2 foot steel pipe on the end of a 3/4" ratchet to break the bolt loose. i would of used a larger pipe for leverage but its all i had. even with the small pipe i still had it off in no time at all. i've used this method a few times now and its worked everytime. 250ft/lb impact wasn't nearly enough to make it budge in the slightest.

I still don't understand how does this chain wrench help you...

My impact gun is 275 ft/lbs, so... probably not enough?

you wrap the wrench around the crank to hold it stationary, and set it against the floor to use it as leverage.

there is a special tool that is octogonal shaped and its hollow so you can fit an impact in there to get it you just put a breaker bar on the handle and hold it on the floor
