im about to put in some crower 402's. i was wondering how much do i torque the things that hold the cams down? also i was wondering how much to torque the cam gear? coud u help thanks.

I was wondering why you'd do a cam swap without a Helms manual. PM'd.

 

On the LS engines, only torque the cam caps to 7 lb/ft of torque, thats not much. The VTEC engines use higher torque specs.

The cam gears are 27 lb/ft of torque.

You probably already know to use oil or assembly lube and to break the cams in for 20 minutes after install. Also, loosen the rocker arms before the install because your Crowers will have higher lift specs and could cause them to bind during installation. Then adjust the valves to spec.

intake valves .003 - .005 inches
exhaust .006 - .008 inches

thanks guys she runs lika champ you can deffinatly tell a diffrence even at idle! it was my first time doing the swap and i did it by my self. i think i did good for being only 16. ima test run it a little more tommarow and im pickin up cam gears so that will show a improvment to.

ok so this morning i was taking off the timing belt and i marked and set it at tdc and took off the belt. then i put it back together and put it back at the same place [or so i think] and tried to start it. all it did was turn over. i smell gas also? could it be the timming off? it looks to me like its straight on but idk please helllp???
