Default turbos?

okay just so you kno i am a noob, i would like to kno more about turbos and so i have some questions. first are XS turbo kits good kits (i dont mean price just quality). second i am under the impression d16y7's can handle 200-250whp safely with proper tune. third consider the facts/

a d16y7 motor in good condition with no problems (had it checked out).
a xs turbo kit because i have a hook up.
add the two plus a fine tune to a T.

i am asking wat would be the fisrt to go with just normal wear n tear?
no problems just normal wear n tear on a y7 with a turbo that has been tuned to a T.

im just trying to learn. cant do that with out first asking a question, so please dont wast my time and yours with burn'n my a$$.

Go to the Force Induction forum, you'll get more answers then you think.

Ouch, bad turbo kits, you can read all about it here and everywhere else. Its a hit or miss with those kits. They have horrible turbo manifolds that crack easily. People here on H-T, had there XS turbo kits last about 6 months at least before it blew, Welds from the turbo manifold. Plus the turbo's they use are supposedly from Turbonetics.

The XS kit DEFINATELY doesn't use a turbonetics turbo.

let me explain:

Honda-tech user #1: "How do I know if I have an XS turbo kit?"

Honda-tech user #2: "It's broken.

If you purchase a legitimate turbonetics kit, then its a reliable kit. Since it's originally from turbonetics.

I would actually use it if I got it for free, I'd put it on and change these parts.

BOV
Turbo (same trim)
manifold (for a similar design)
bigger downpipe.
better silicone couplings if the ones that come with it don't look well manufactured.

Then sell all the other parts.

i think there is an xs power(the shitty 1's) then theres xs engineering(good company). i have a d16y7 too. ima turbo mine too by peicing a kit 2gether. im putting srp pistons in it 9.0:1. and eagle rods w/ no block guard. then i wanna run in between 245-275hp. i know a dude with an EG w/ 235hp and his ***** QUICK. im advising u build urs too(if u have a d16y7).

well now that i think about it the only thing i would use from them would be there turbo's and there bov, DP more than likely you are going to want to get made at a shop.

you can use their charge pipes(might need more pipeing). but even then if you get a better turbo you will have the assurance for most of the time. but with whatever turbo you choose get a t3/t4(you will be more satisfied, i am running the t3 and want more) and make sure you get an oil restrictor.

your just going to want to do more research. and more and more and more. you really cant get enough, my numbers and set up are in my sig.

you might want to consider a different tranny, flywheel and clutch first though(i am boosted right now with the cx tranny and it is horrible).
