Default Found something f#cked up on my R tonight.

I bought the car used from a dealership and I've always noticed that the kicktoe panel on the passenger side was missing the little plastic plug that holds it in. So I get under there, pop the panel off and of course there's the ECU right there. Then I notice that it looks like two wires have been cut and recrimped with butt connectors and another has what looks like a vampire tap on it. WTF! This is obviously not stock I'm thinking.

Does it sound like the guy that owned her before me had a VAFC installed (based on how many wires were cut)? Should I take the butt connectors off and solder the wires back together? I thought I read somewhere in this forum that crimp on connections can loosen over time. I'm thinking I should reset the ECU when done also. DAMNIT!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Give the connection a little tug, if it don't come apart, leave it be. If it will make you feel better then solder it.

If you are going to solder it, disconnect your battery and unplug your ecu. Wires can get very hot when soldering and you could damage the board.

Yeah, I'm probably going to just solder it. Thanks for the tips. I would have pulled the negative battery cable, but I probably wouldn't have thought to unplug the ECU. Whoa. Thanks again.

leave it alone man, solder have it down side too, it will break while varbration. as long as the butt connectors are tight, it gets no problem. butt do their job but just look ugly.

It probably will hold fine. Don't worry about it unless it looks like it's going to be loose.
