Default Noob question..... don't rip me a new one!

So is an H23A1 an exact equivalent to a JDM H23A. The reason I'm asking this is cuz I'm thinking of replacing my blown H23A1 but I don't know which of the H23's is the same as my old one. I mean, I'm electronically challenged but not mechanically, so I don't wanna be messing with too much wiring. Also, I need this swap to be a reliable one. So please, help me out here!
Thanks for any info you might have.

I'm in a good mood as I have been flaming n00bs all morning......
the answer is no.....The USDM H23A1 is a Non VTEC DOHC 16v engine and the H23A is a VTEC DOHC 16v 2.3 liter version of the US/JDM H22A variation.
The wiring is easy......{SEARCH} is your friend....

In before the lock?!

Yep, and you what you want to look for is an F22B DOHC non-VTEC or any H23A1 or H23A3 DOHC non-VTEC.

What are the differences then? JDM motors are usually higher compression and have different ECU mapping and will have higher emissions levels.
JDM motors are more readily available and come in better shape.....Not to mention the extra TQ from the compression in an H22's case.
IIRC Japan has lower Emissions standards for NEW cars but higher standards for OLD cars as compared to alot of US States.......
I have personally passed emissions in IL with a JDM motor/s2s1 cams/spiked ecu.

I think it was more directed at the H23A3 question....

Random but my JDM H22 "fast passed" the Colorado emmisions, which is a dyno and exhaust test, with I/H/E and the intake butterflies open constantly, so they run very clean still.
