New to teg's, Having weird power loss/shuting off issues while driving.
I have a 98 GS-R, just bought it last week. On the way home on the interstate the car lost all engine power, lights and everything stayed on, it just would accelerate. I pull over and it idled for a bit, then shut off and then chugged out and would not restart. Ended up putting a new coil and distibutor in it and it worked fine for a couple of days. Now, today on the way to work it did the same thing but when I went to pull off the road, I was on the freeway and coasting, it kicked back on and I was able to make it to work. It did it once more on the way to work, but just once, make it all the way home without any problems. I am really scared to drive anywhere for fear of being stranded. Any ideas?
So u replaced the entire distributor? Hmm, check all ur grounds make sure they're on good. Does it only do this when ur driving, or idling, or both?
I had a shop do the previous work, the bill says replaced coil and distributor. I am not taking it back to that shop as it is in a different state as the car broke down on the way home right after I bought it. I have only had the car three days. It has only done it while driving. I know the grounds off the battery are rockford wiring but the ground on the valve cover to the front of the car is stock and looks pretty worn. I could replace that easily enough.
