water in the gas tank!!!!!!
well, this weekend my friends gsxr wouldn't start and we couldn't figure out why, took it to the shop, come to find out that he had water in his gas tank!!! alot of it! his bike is kept in his garage, but he left the key in it figuring it'd be safe... the ironic thing is we call him squidworth so he thinks we did it as a prank or something (water/squid)
just wondering if anyone ever had any similar problems?? (probably not) or if there's gonna be any permanent damage, or any advice to give him... i just feel bad for the guy, it's a clean @$$ bike too, i didn't get the whole story cuz he looked like he didn't even want to talk about it, i would be too... to make things worse they dropped his helmet on the ground

Dont try to run it or attempt to start it. Tell him to take the tank off and drain every tiny bit of it. The tank has to be dry before u put it back. THen once you put it back add some sea foam maybe 1/4 bottle with a full tank of fresh good gas 95 if you can find. And start it up. After a few tries it should start. I had the same issue before, eventually it startted up with good gas and i just ran thru the tank of gas in a day revving high to let the sea foam do its job, it was fine after that...
he started it cuz we were going to ride and it rode for a half a block then it died... he tried to start it it ran for a few seconds and died, he did it about 10x.. til he decided to take it in... so i'm thinking he's screwed??? sea foam should do the trick??

At that point, I think he's screwed.

Water in the gas tank wont hydrolock the motor, your **** just wont run.
Putting seafoam in the gas tank wont help one damn bit either. You want to run a bottle of drygas through it, not seafoam.

The seal on the gas lid could be bad. However that does not explain how it got water in it sitting in the garage. Sounds like someone did mess with it. Angry ex? lol
angry ex's are usually too dumb to get the key, open the lid, put water etc etc... takes too much time and effort. Angry ex's just like to slash tires or key ****. Otherwise it could be just bad gas. There are crappy gas stations that mix gas with all kinda of chemicals, ethanol etc etc. So drain the gas tank in any case is the first step...

like the other guy said, water in the gas tank wont cause a motor to hydrolock. the injectors would just spray a simalar amount of water into the cylinders, rather than fuel. You should only hydro lock a motor when it injests a large amount of water (or other liquid) buy sucking it in through the intake. The water fills the cylinder and wont compress, thus hydrolocking the motor.
