1st Gen B16A in a 6th Gen Civic
Ok, before you guys flame me for being an idiot, listen to the story. My mechanic calls me up and tells me that this kid with a 00 Civic EX ordered a B16 to swap into his Civic. I say OK, thats an easy swap, what's the problem. He laughs at me and says that nothing matches up. So I figure out the obvious right away that it's a 1st Gen which it is. Turns out the kid not only bought the wrong motor he actually paid 1700 bucks for it!(Aren't they normally like 800?)
What I need to know is how feesable is it to try to make this thing work? I'm guessin the cost of making it work would be well over $1000 seeing as he would need mounts, tranny(hydro), ECU, Distributor, halfshaft, injectors... I think I just basically answered my own question. Just wondering if any of you have any input? I told my mechanic that I'd throw up a question on the board. I think it wouldn't be bad to try to do this if he had only paid $800 for the swap, but the fact that he overpaid by $900 makes it impossible.
