Holy Shiznit! My R was stolen in Chicagoland!
Well, I not really mine anymore. I sold the car to Schaumburg Toyota on May 23rd. It was there on Saturday morning (for sale on the lot). Saturday evening, at about 11pm, I passed by and the car was gone. I figured they sold it..which was surprising since they were asking $24K for a 2000 with 40K miles.
In any case, I called them today because they owe me the difference between my loan payout and what I sold it to them for. When I called, they told me it was stolen off of their lot Saturday evening between 9pm (when they close) and 11pm (when I passed by).
Please be on the lookout for ITR parts for sale from Chicago. The VIN number is JH4DC231XYS001793 and the armest number is #343. What a sad way for my old car to go.
To those (including myself) that thought Chicagoland was safe, think again. If you see anything suspicious, please send me a message or email so I can notify the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates police. I wonder if they are going to investigate me now?

They will investigate you because you could of had an extra set of keys. Expect it to happen. Not saying you did it or anything, but just expect an investigation. Well at least it wasn't owned by you anymore when it was stolen.
I wonder why they haven't called me yet??
BTW, when I dropped the car off at the dealer, I left the grey and spare key in the glovebox (telling them that I did so). I wonder if the ******** never removed them and didnt remember to arm the alarm? This dealer is less than 1/2 a mile from the police station on a very busy road and my car was showcased right in front. Im in shock!

That dealer is very close to a very bad ricer hang out place - Black Pearl Karaoke right at the insection of Roselle and Golf. My emblem got jacked once around that area.
Right of the dealership lot eh?
The criminals around here do that all the time!
(A while ago, someone jacked a set of rims off the new M3 that was on the LIGHTED turntable in front of the dealership!)

apparently not. I drive by that place very often. the thieves are very bold - stealing a car less than a mile away from a police station!

They gave me $19.5K for the car. It really is a shame. I felt bad enough not knowing who the next owner was going to be...but now..it is gone forever. What a freaking waste.
Its ironic because just yesterday I posted in another thread about how I live in an area where ITR theft is completely uncommon.
