Default Vband flange

I'm going the vband route.Can I weld a 3" vband flange to a t3to4e exhaust housing or is a 2.5 as big as I can do.What should I use for filler rod (tig) ?

3" is possible... i do it all the time. 4" works too! i personally use 1/8" 308l rod and have not had a problem yet...

3" fits perfect on most housings. I use 1/16" nickel filler, so far so good.

i'm not sure on the size, but i use 309L filler and i preheat the turbine housing on a hot plate for an hour before hand. no issues yet.
