Default ac problems...

the ac works and blows fine, nice and cold, that is until you come to a stop.

if you are sitting for a little while, u can hear the compressor kick on and the rpm's drop and start to go crazy and feels like the car is going to stall out. engine/car shaking like crazy, the airs starts to blow warm and warmer. does it for like 5 seconds and its back to normal.

no codes are thrown and all the readings seem to be within range.

i was thinking maybe a vacuum leak somewhere, or checking out the IAC or maybe the ELD??

anyone ever have a similar problem?

btw its a 99 civic LX. stock motor 87k miles

Take this with a grain of salt, as I can't see your car. Your a/c compressor clutch might be starting to bind. I am leaning towards this theory because it happens when you come to a stop and the belt slows down, the extra drag on the belt causes the motor to have to work harder, which might be why your car feels like it is going to stall. Possible explanation, not for sure, I hope it helps.

i was thinking something with the compressor itself also. but im starting smaller and working my way up

the problem mainly started after the ac tensioner pulley fell off while driving belt shredded and the pulley got lodged between the frame and the compressor i believe it was. its the girls car, she heard it but continued driving all the way home with it lodged in there.

so maybe that did more damage than i thought or maybe i tightened the belt too much??? have to look into that some more.
