Default ZC auto axle questions

OK my boy's CRX w/ ZC Auto swap had the trans die. So I ordered a used 91 civic trans and the axle will not go into the diff. My questions are:

If I get the proper diameter/spline count axles will I need to change the hubs?

If that is the case will he still be able to retain equal length half shafts? Or are the lower model smaller axles unequal length?

Also Can someone give me the proper spline counts for the ZC/SI axles vs. the lower end models? And I mean both trans side and hub side. Thanks alot

Oh yeah I rock a G2 Teg over on G2IC.com so I am not completely ignorant as to dealing with Hondas. Thanks

if you use a zc auto trany than you use the zc driveshaft but if you use and si auto trany than you have to use si auto drive shafts

The problem is the ZC transmission has a larger inner shaft compare to other L3 transmission.

I had the same problem but vise versa. I had a HF axle and the shaft was to small and it just rotate inside the transmission.

Founded the hard way because i bought it as a Si transmission and after I finish the the clutch job.

To solve the problem, you just need to order the DX/Si axle.

So will the hub diameters and spline counts be the same or will I need to switch out the hubs to match the trans spline/diameter count?

It sounds like you had an auto ZC trans with ZC axles so the hub ends should be the same as the DX and Si models. I'd say just get axles that match the transmission and see if they fit your hubs.

Not 100% sure on it offhand, but I believe the Si axles have 20 splines on the diff end. Hopefully he'll chime in here, but you can PM "jlicrx" on here for more info, he is the god of all that is ZC.

all of the 88-91 axles are the same on the transmission end, except for the ZC transmission, which uses the larger equal length Integra type axles with an intermediate shaft - you cannot use the ZC intermediate shaft with any transmission other than the ZC - to use the DX transmission, you will need to get rid of the intermediate shaft and use the axles for your model of car
