Is the SI a good winter car?
I have been trying to decide weather to go with the SI or a WRX. I live in Colorado and I do go up to the mountains on a regular basis. I was wondering how the SI handles in the snow? I have owned six cars with only one not being a Honda and all of my Honda's were not good cars in winter driving conditions.
i couldnt get out of my subdivision with 6 inches of fresh powder on the ground, but after i got onto the main road i was fine. and yeah i have been driving in snow since i was 16. and yes my car is stock. hope this helps
I live in chicago and i had no problems over the winter. the streets in my area are plowed pretty quickly though. but i still managed to get through the fresh stuff with the stock all-seasons
With the optional PE2 summer tires my car struggled a bit but after throwing some EX wheels on with A/S tires it was fine.

but of course the rex will handle better in those weather conditions
each car has its strengths and flaws
its your decision on which car balances the scale in your favor

all hondas other then the s2k does good in the snow. I dont know how you had any problems in em, but if you couldnt drive others in the snow, you wont like the SI in the snow. You should go with the WRX
The honda civic si is a great car all season round considering the fact that it is front wheel drive and not rear. It is a great competitor and its vehicle stability assist (VSA) system is very responsive and competitive to other systems being that it creates a safer environment for the driver while behind the wheel.
People can shoot there opinions from both sides. When it comes down to it, YOU need to decide what you think youll feel more comfortable in, and if its actually what you want.
If you go with the WRX wagon, grats
If you go with the Si, grats

The Si will handle the snow fine with the right tires. I live in the northeast as an avid skier and I have never had a problem driving any of my FWD hondas From CT to VT,ME in the snow. And trust me, the Si will be a hell of alot more rewarding to drive any other time than a WRX wagon. All wheel drive will get you going faster, but will it help you stop?
