Default 99-00 dash swap into a 96

I am just talking about the audio console and the climate control? is this an easy swap or a pain in the ***? It doesn't look too bad as far as fitment, it looks like the holes are about the same size. Anyone done this. Thanks

One of the hardest things you'll ever do.

You need to take out the entire dash, and put in all the electronically-controlled blower components from a 99-00 into your car. Then you need a 99-00 dash harness to plug in the electronic climate control.

Spend your money on something more worthwhile, like suspension and brakes.

If you have a '96-00 Civic, and you can't get it to bolt right up, then you don't have "that same steering wheel."

i swapped the 99-00 dash into my 97. its pretty ghetto tho. i wired it direct so the climate control lights up as soon as i put the key in. lol. and my old climate control is in my glove box and it still works. haha.

but if i were you i would do it the proper way.

is that lower panel under the HVAC controls standard on 96-98? I'd like to mount my CD player in the same spot in my 99-00. Anyone have a part number?

Yep, I have the shifter console, cupholders, and audio console from an EL. You need all three for it to fit correctly.

RSX-S steering wheel, and no, the airbag isnt' functional. I removed all my airbags after an accident. The RSX-S wouldn't work anyways, because it's dual-stage. I remember someone doing a writeup on making them deploy with a single-stage system, but it's untested.

Did the colors match up correctly? The EL parts aren't different colors from the Civic parts or anything like that? Everything is type K?
