If that.

That small amount of power is not worth it to me. I love my air conditioning.

Oh, when the A/C's on, it's more than 5-7whp I believe. My buddy dyno'd his boosted EM1 without A/C on, it put down 224whp, and with A/C on, it put down 207whp. I **** you not.

The ECU shuts off the compressor at WOT, so the main difference in horsepower will be from the extra drag of the pulley/belt and additional heat build-up under the hood from running the compressor.

Really? That's interesting.

I can definately feel an obvious power loss when I go WOT with the A/C on. Damn torqueless wonder.

thx for the feedback guys. I just looked at how big that pulley was on the A/C compressor and figured it def. sucked the hp. I imagine pulling it out is a bitch. What is the weight savings 40 lbs or so?

If your R is not a strictly track-only car, whatever the weight savings, it's not worth it.

Even in the Utah dry desert heat, it was very uncomfortable at times. If you're on the coast with any hint of humidity, I highly suggest not taking out the A/C.

I work out in the direct sun with no shade, so the extra 10 minutes of sweating for the drive home doesn't bother me, not that I drive my R to work or anything...

^ Liar.

The majority of my job, I'm sitting in one of our nicely air conditioned brand new Ford E-250s, running around the eastern NC/SC costline delivering. I love A/C. I'd probably lose 5lbs in water weight a day if I didn't have it.

Hey John,

I Pulled my A/C this spring, It wasn't that big of a deal, I have instructions for install if you need them. Just read them in reverse. I weighed everything once it was pulled, and it was 38.5lbs.

If you need any help, pulling the A/C out let me know.

Cheers,

Frank
