Default Anyone running w/o torque mounts?

I was thinking of getting the stiffest Innovative mounts and just ditching my torque mounts.

Does anyone do this? B-series into an EG. I'm looking at making some decent power here.

We just had solid mounts made for our D series. We went form the lower crankshaft side mount, the one that holds the A/C compressor and bottom mount and had a plate made to go forward to the traction bar mount where the factory tie down bolted to.

On the tranny side I had the guy make a "L" style brace with a gusset. and bolted it to the 3 tranny mount bolts on the front side of the tranny and to the tie down bolts.

if you can run them, run them. it will prolong the life of your new mounts, and help with traction/wheel hop issues.

I've never ran them but I plan on making solid torque mounts or making a front motor mount with the traction bar.

Do what Francisco from RPRacing say's. I've seen what can happen. He has first hand experience.

As for ATI or SFI balancer's, how big are they? the lower mount bracket is pretty far from the crankshaft.

The plate we had made runs forward and is 3/16" thick.

i couldnt run the ac bracket my ati dampner hit it but i do have full race pro am bars with the torque mount and i do run the trans side,i would always try to run all mounts poss. seen a engine mount break the block twice and a t mount break the trans from not using the torque mounts.jus my two cents.

how bad did it hit ? real bad or could have shaved the mount slightly for clearance? i havent tried to install the stock ac bracket, but i didnt think it goes back like that.

either way, fabbing a new mount is not hard. but you already have the FR bars with mount so that takes care of that.

i have never ran torque mounts. making aroudn 700whp, i cut 1.6's .
this has been for about almost a year.

BUT the stud for the tranny mount has broken of & i had to make a new one out of raw stell rod. bit i think that hapend from when ive taken the trans out about 15times to fix broken gears. must of hit somethintg with it . i do want to put the torque mounts back in just to lazy. i would have to fab some stuff up due to turbo ect..

I use to not run them and put some inline torque mounts in the shifts were so much smoother

ahh so the inline pro ones are similar to the old jim-fabs ?

either way those lowers (non oem) will do a hell of a better job keeping the engine in 1 spot

avid mounts with trq mounts also.. ati damp. fit fine..
motor def moves a lot less with the trq mounts in even if u have stiff aftermarket mounts to motor is still going to lift.

i dont run them, but would like to run a solid set up. I used to have the JDM aluminum mount AC. i also run the FR pro-am which attaches to the block.

i would recommend running them -- CFT can't run them due to their intercooler pipe routing or something and they get a lot of movement for the other 3 mounts and have had issues breaking the mounts -- i believe due to not having the front torque mounts installed -- they have since remedied this problem from my understanding

whereas we have always run the 3 engine mounts and the torque mounts and get no movement at all -- avid racing all the way around including torque mounts -- work great -- and we run the ATI dampener with no clearance issues either, installs just fine
