Exhaust?

My 96 gsr has skunk 2 catback w/ stock cat. Some time I shift onto 2-3-4 the exhaust pop, but some time it don't. Can this be the cat? Do I need a porformance cat?

It's nothing you should be worried about. Ever heard the term backfire? It's never insanely loud right? Just a little pop.
