Low quality spark wires? Please help, I'm misfiring and out of ideas.
Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem and I really cant seem to figure it out.
About a month ago I changed my clutch, spark plugs, and essentially all of my cars fluids - and the car developed a misfire.
So I bought new wires thinking the OEMs might have been damaged by the spark plug change - $20 napa brand wires. The misfire was greatly improved, but still present.
So I bought new plugs - which changed nothing.
So I bought a new rotor (which needed to be replaced anyway) - and the misfire improved, but its still there.
I really dont have a clue what could be causing it at this point besides the wires - the plugs are decent NKG's and before them were bosch platinums (removed after only 300 miles in an attempt to fix misfire). I also get radio interferance at high rpms - which I assume is due to poor insulation on the wires.
Any ideas what could have caused this sudden misfire, or if poor quality wires could play a part? Will buying better wires fix my problem? What wires should I buy?
The misfire is most obvious at low rpms, under high stress - such as when reversing slowly and slipping the clutch. The engine is a d16z6.
Thanks so much for your help - I'm stuck and have no idea what to do anymore.

Chilton recommends gapping the spark plugs from .039 to .043. I've had a similar misfiring problem after I'd installed new plugs. They were originally gapped at .040, but the engine called for .042. After I corrected that, I haven't had any problems since. Hopefully that will take care of it.
