Default auto d16z6 sounds like a subaru..helppppp

car was sitting for about 2 years and started right up but was runnin kinda ruff and kinda sounded like a subaru at first..put 2 gallons of new gas and i got it to run good and smooth. i drove it to go get a full tank and brought it home. it drove and ran just fine. after that it was parked for afew days cuz i didnt have time to work on it..then i went to ork on it again and tried starting it which it wouldnt after numerous times..so i checked if it was getting spark and it wasnt..i took off the dizzy cap and saw that the little spring was bent which was pretty wierd so i straightened i as much as possible and put a new cap on i had laying around..after afew tries it started but had that boxer engine sound and it seems to struggle..im guessing that either one of the cylinders isnt getting spark OR its not getting sufficient fuel.. i added that 16oz.injector cleaner stuff to see if maybe that would work and ran it for awhile. after about 10-15 min. it idled pretty low and when id give it gas it just shut off. tried startin afew times after that and it would just backfire abit and when i gave it alittle gas it would just shut off..i wrote all this so i could give a pretty good idea..thanks in advance fellas..just kinda weird how this happened outta nowhere..im gonna get new plugs and wires as well as put in another dizzy i have..just gotta find it..

edit: looks like the problem is fixed..changed the rotor..worked like a charm.
i take that back..the problem is still here. changed the cap and rotor, and gutted the burnt cat to help it breath alittle easier..dont worry im not leaving it like that but dont wanna put a good one on until i fix the problem..wat could it beeeeeee!!! next thing im gonna do is borrow a multimeter and check the injectors..

Try a tune up and the other dist. It sounds like its a spark related problem.

Running on three cylinders = Subaru sound.

Sounds like 1 and 2 aren't firing anymore and they're dumping fuel into your exhaust where it's igniting and causing the thing to nearly catch on fire. Hollowing out your catylitic converter will not solve this problem so don't do it.

I repeat - do not hollow out your cat.

Figure out why your 1st and 2nd cylinders aren't firing - you can run the plugs under a sand blaster or use some brake parts cleaner or something for starters - and go from there. This is not an exhaust problem, it's an ignition problem. Make it so.

i was only gonna hollow it out to see if it would still run the way its been..i wasnt gonna leave it like that..seeing as its already clogged up i was just gonna do alittle test..i just found a new rotor for the distributor sealed i guess i got with the cap..so i'll change that too..see wat happens..

the car starts up..when i first put in the new rotor it started right up and ran pretty good for afew..then it just went back to not running right after i turned it off and turned it back on..maybe the timing is off or something? but i dont understand how that can be when it was just running perfectly fine before..any other suggestions? either way gotta go get that multimeter to check if maybe it the injectors..

I just kinda skimmed over the conversation, but did you check the spark plugs yet?

Another thing may have been if it was sitting around for 2 years with gas in the tank, that could be a problem as well.
