Unable to open door from inside or out 2000AccordEX
I got into my car, drove home and when I got there I could not open the door from either the inside or the outside. I'm assuming that a retaining clip from my latch slipped off or broke, but I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary. How can I fix this? Will I be able to get the door panel off to fix the clip if I can't open the door?
I just now fixed my door handle on my 96 civic. My 98 Accord rear driver door handle broke once...bought the part at hondaautomotiveparts.com and fixed it.
You've go it tough. Try the obvious first. Do the other doors open from the inside too? Try pushing on the door locks. Try taking off the door handle release from the inside and pull on the metal bar. This is assuming your child release is not on. Make sure your button on the door lock is not engaged (locked) or stuck in a locked position. You may have to manually pull it up to release the mechanism. It is very coincidental that the inside and outside mechanism wont work.
Im betting that the locking mechanism on that door is on. Pull up on the dohickey to unlock the door. Good luck..let me know how it goes. By the way, I use to work at an auto window shop...never heard this one before.

I've already tried all of those methods, including taking off the inside handle and manually trying the bar. I'm stumped as much as anyone, any other ideas?
Well its an ex so it has power locks....To me it sounds like u have a bad actuator and its in the lock position.....Or there could be other problems...either way your gonna have to get ur door panel off to investigate......I have had a problem like this at work and we had to break the door panel to access the actuator
Hopefully you dont have to do this

Remove the driver seat, to help get the door panel off, I've never had a newer Accord door latch stuck.

well i had a problem like this in my ek and i just had my girl hold the handle in the open position on the outside while i held the handle open from the inside. while all this was going on i gave the inside of the door some good ole 200lb linebacker hits!! a couple of these and voila it opened.. just my 2 cents... g/l
