okay every about 10 start ups. it takes my car 2-3 times as long to start. u can hear it crank but it doesnt go. it doesnt happen all the time. prob bout every 2 days. do i need a new starter, distributor, tune up? plug wires. i replaced my spark plugs about 4k ago.

 

it might be your main relay giving out. Does it still turn over just doesnt start? As long as its still turning over than that rules out the starter. You sohuld inspect the cap and rotor and replace them if they look pretty worn, as long as the wires have no cracks you should be good.

yeah happens more often when i am lower on gas.

 

Yeah, that about does it. It's because you're low on gas. Fuel pressure's gotta build up enough before the car starts, and when there isn't enough gas, it takes longer.

If it only does it when you're low on gas, then you're fine. Check, and let us know.

 

Next time your low on fuel turn the key on and let it build fuel pressure then turn it over if it starts every time then that will rule out whether its due to low fuel or not. That way you can move onto something else if its not
