SMSP header/exhaust questions
In the next few weeks, I might be putting up my smsp header (1.8 liter) and exhaust (2.5"), toda c cams, toda valve train + TI retainers up for sale to be replaced with some new goodies for a new build, bigger is better lol.
But I also might want to hang on to these parts in case of a future build I am not waiting months for the header and exhaust. I read recently that letting exhaust lay around after they have been used isn't good for them? But can't find a definate answer as to why...can someone chime in on this?

I've never heard of such a thing. Hell, I've got a used GS-R exhaust (b-pipe and muffler) that has been sitting in the back yard for about 3 years. I half thought about putting it on the EG a while back. Still looks like it did when I put it there.
The only thing I could think of being possible, would be rust inside of the cat. If your running a test pipe, then no worries. I would presume at least.

Oh Tootsie.....
The Type R will never be a Z06. I am starting to think you need to get rid of the R and go buy a muscle powered breathing beast that gets 5 mpg

thats what I was thinking also. The whole thing is stainless and I am not currently running a cat so I thought I'd be able to keep it around. I believe when I read a while back about it being back, someone was saying something about the metal getting eaten by acidic stuff?? I don't remember exactly, but I was just trying to make sure I'd be good to keep it around until I make my mind up. Thanks.
