question about mods to a 2000 civic cx
Howdy, this is my first post here.
I thought I would ask a few n00b questions since i'm just now looking into doing some mods to my civic. Currently everywhere i've looked says i'm running stock 106hp.
I'd like to increase it to around 130hp (or more if possible).
I figure i could add a new intake, headers, and exhaust. I'd rather not drop a turbo or engine swap at the moment.
Could anyone estimate what kind of hp increases i'll see from those mods?
Oh, and I know that the 1st thing i've gotta is swap the transmission out with one from an EX. I assume the EX tranny will bolt right up (from what i've read).

edit: my tranny is automatic, and while i would love to swap to manual, i'm not sure if i'm wanting to go through the trouble of the swap. would swapping out to an EX auto tranny gain me anything or would i absolutely have to swap to an ex manual?

Do a mini me swap. (put a vtec head on your non vtec block) It'll give you your 130 horsepower goal.
You should defiently get an ex tranny. With the mini me and ex tranny, your car should have quite a bit more get up and go.
You won't see a huge power gain if any at all with the intake, headers, and exhaust. They might just make your car seem faster.

Bolt ons (excluding turbos) will MAYBE get you 5whp on a stock d-series. Peak horsepower will change, but you'll lose midrange.
Save your money, for the price of a mini-me that's half of a turbo.

If you're about to buy it... Depending on how much you're spending, I hoenstly would just wait out for an EX or something or a swapped coupe or hatch depending on whatever it is you're looking for... But if you made up your mind then yeah, go for a mini mi
