Default HID kit Vs. Bulb change. Whats the difference?

Heres a question I been thinkin about for a while.

I know HID kits are around $110- 170 on the web.

The blubs which closely resemble are about $15 bucks on ebay.

Whats the pros and cons of each other then the price difference.

I want to add lighting most closely resembling blu.

if you get the bulb and plug it into your headlight without hte kit there is a high chance that it ll blow the kit prevents this from happening. i recommend buying the kit for HID

I don't think he is talking about just plugging in a HID bulb to the stock wiring are you? I'm assuming he is asking about an HID kit then the cheap bulbs you can buy on eBay or wherever that are labled as HID but are just regular bulbs with a blue tint. I could be wrong but thats the impression I got. I use a set of Eurolite Fusion bulbs and they seem to be pretty good. They arn't much worse than stock if any and have a blue tint to them. The Eurolite Crystals were about the same for me. Most of the cheap bulbs seem to not last all that long even though I've had good luck with these. Most of them are also a lot harder to see with where as HID's have a lot better light output than normal bulbs it just happens they have color too. I'd go with HID's if you have the money. A retrofit is the best way to go though.

Thanks for the input yea i did see some cheap light bulb that resemble HID's or so they say, The ad also said you can put them in stock headlight and pooof magic.

I was a bit skeptical, i mean the light are only like 10 bucks or so.

So I guess HID's are the way to go, I am not sure i want to spend 150 or so on them,

any alternatives for stock headlights??

If you just want the look the cheap bulbs are okay and do look good usually but the light output is usually pretty bad. The Eurolites arn't too bad but I tried some Nokya's and you could barely see with them but they did look good. I've also heard a lot of complaints about the bulbs not lasting as long and have experienced it with some bulbs but I've had good luck with the Eurolite Fusions. The Eurolite Super Plasma's burnt out on me every 2 months though. If you just want the blue look and don't care how the light output is the cheap bulbs are fine. Make sure you don't get the higher wattage ones though as they will melt the stock wiring harness unless you upgrade the harness too.

I see, I see, hmm, for now i will have to admit, I would rather buy the bulbs then upgrade to the HID kit. My vehicle is stock, im working on it slowly.

Here is a link the the bulbs

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Would you say these are good enough. Or do you know of another site i can go to?

I dont want the wire burning out, how does this wattage look?

You did also say they burn out every 2 months, if thats the case i might buy two pairs and see where it takes me in 4 months.

thanks man

thanks man </TD></TR></TABLE>Those are 85/100watt bulbs they are higher wattage. Stock are 55/65watt. That being 55 watts for the low beams and 65 for the high beams. Those may melt the stock wiring. I've heard of lots of people complain about that happening with higher wattage bulbs.

I would go with a name brand bulb if it was me. I don't know if those will burn out every two months or not. The ones I had do that were Eurolite Super Plasmas and both sets I tried of them did it. The Fusions and Crystals seemed better. I also had good luck with Farenheit bulbs but they were not really blue just white.

If I was you I'd look for a good set of Euorlite Fusions or Nokya stock wattage Artic White bulbs. Eurodesignz or however it is spelled is a brand that I've had friends that have used and had good luck with. You can usually find those on eBay also. The bulbs arn't as easy to find as they used to be as like that guy above said jokingly they were popular quite a few years ago and not as many people seem to use them now.

Whats so bad about not having hid's retrofitted? Personally I think its a waste of money to spend all that money for a retrofit. And thats from experience
