I was atonished to find that little release lever under the hatch handle. What year was this added (after '97!)? How much does the whole mechanism weigh and does the '97 R have wiring to support it?

98+ has it. I'd rather have the 97 setup personally.

I prefer Kings setup

Pull the cord and the trunk pops open

to add it onto a 97-below integra it's a pain in the ***. The whole setup is different. Basically, it's not a simple procedure and IMO not worth doing.

I had the latch replaced on my 2000 twice because it would stick and the hatch would not lock closed.

Becuase I've seen a lot of them stick in the open position (mine does it).. to fix I have to tap the release and then it'll snap back over to locked.. annoying at chit.. also if you have more than one car and your alarm likes your integra's battery power a bit too much it's annoying to use the key to open the hatch, I'd rather just pull a release by the gas door release.. just my opinion

I agree, I would rather have the older tegs setup. It's a pain in the ***, I remember when I first bought the car, I had no idea on how to open it, then when I figured it out, I had no idea on how to close it. The 94-97's tegs, are nice, simple, and easy to work with.

The pre-98 setup works better. Now, every time I go to open the hatch, I end up opening the fuel door. Habit, I guess.

It's an item that I had covered under warranty...the dealership said that they had already seen a couple of other cars come in with the same problem of the latch sticking.

Hmmm, I've never had a problem with mine. You guys probably use yours more than I do though. I've opened the hatch maybe two dozen times on the car since it was new.

The secret for getting the hatch latch to work all the time is drum roll please Spray WD40 in the hole right underneath the latch. (or some other lub spray, I use the Mobile 1 spray for that and it never sticks)

It stuck once when i first got the cat and then used the M1 spray and never again...

I had a defective latch...hence the replacement under warranty.

I have a '98 and have never had a problem. I also have a '94 GSR and like the new latch better.

Mine used to stick all the time on my 01....
Oddly enough I wrecked and crushed in the hatch lid, and the latch was reused on the new lid and I never got a new one.

Just goto the trunk and put your hand were you lift up the hatch and there is little black plastic switch there you use to open the trunk.

Hey the hyper rev shows those new alarm keys that look like that laser cut keys of Merc. They can open/lock it, start the engine, cut alarm off and on and it has light so you can see the key holes. If you want the other mags let me know?

You dont have the "latch." It was only on pre-98 Integras right by the fuel door release "latch."
