Default corrosion on chrome lip :( (high quality pics!, 56k polish some rims :))

The pics will do the talking. Do you think metal polish will take them off? What kind of wheel cleaners will i need? By the way i'm pretty sure this corrosion is from road salt in the winter. Previous owner didn't take care of them.

that is actually the clear coat peeling off..you will need to use aircraft paint remover or actually sand it off w/a low grit and go up to high grit while wet sanding then re polish..please see the polishing thread on the top of this sub-forum.

that is a big reason why people need to use beater winter wheels and not your summer wheels during the winter.

acid rain and salt will eat away at the clear on most rims and do some nasty pitting to chrome plate. make sure you clean the salt/acid rain off your rims right away.

you will need to use body shop type blue tape made by 3M...industrial heavy duty tape not the walmart stuff to mask off the face

Just take the clearcoat off with the aircraft stripper, then see how smooth the metal is. If there is pitting in the metal, sand with 800, then 1000, then 1500 then polish with the metal polish of your choice.

If you just take the clearcoat off with the stripper, and the metal looks good, you should be able to get away with just freshing up the bling with the polish, if not, try starting out with the 1500 grit + polish.

It is a pain in the *** but it will be worth it, all of my wheels looked like that all over, and now they look like chrome and I get complements on them all the time.
