92 accord problems
can somebody help me out.
my car when i first start it up, idles at 1500. but when the engine gets hot it idles where it should. why does it do that.?
and does anybody know that mpg on 92 accords (4dr)???

To the OP. There is a Fast Idle Thermal Valve that makes the engine idle high for a few mins to get the temperature up, and the engine warmed up properly. This is to make sure that all the systems are working properly. For example, build oil pressure, and get it circulating. Build some heat in the exhaust to get the o2 sensors working, etc..
So, to answer your question, its perfectly normal for your car to idle at around 1500 rpm when first started COLD for a few mins. If the engine still idles high after it has temp, then thats another problem.
