Default Proper Maintenance on my car

Alright, where to begin, i just bought a car, its a 2000 honda civic ex coupe, and i really like it but i can't help but ride heavy on the pedal, I enjoy the the acceleration, just because its fun, but i tend to do it a little to much am i doing serious damage to my engine?

also what other safety precautions and maintenance issues should i deal with to keep my car in tip top running shape?

basically honda engines only have a certain amount of revolutions in them before the metal wears out overtime... a common problem with high mileage engines are piston rings, when they wear out they tend to burn oil.

when you say your heavy on the gas im assuming you rev the engine more than nessecarry when driving, i do the same.... this will shorten the life of the engine aka internals and cause a premature failure in accordance with the number of miles on the engine. however your d16y8 can be found easily for around 700$ so its not worth sweating over if something down break down.
