Can bad axles cause vibration upon braking?
I have replaced the brakes on my wifes car 3 or 4 times in the last 3 years. Most recently I put on Brembo rotors and Hawk HP pads. She still has a vibration when braking. The harder you press the pedal, the worse it vibrates.
I jacked the car up and put it in drive to watch the brake rotors. They don't appear to be warped at all. However, the CV axles do move around a bit as they spin. Could they be the culprit of our brake shimmy? The car is a 99 Ex auto with 150K miles and original axles.

it IS possible but you'd probably also have the shakes upon braking, accelerating, and turning so it might not be as well. see if there is any other situation that it occurs in.
um...this might be a dumb question but do you have ABS on that car?

yes
i remember my friend had a problem simaliar to yours(vibration). he checked by jacking the car up and putting it on bricks and stepping on the gas while another friend looked at the axel in movement.. of course that can be dangerous if you dont put something so the car doesnt fall on you so keep that in mind if you plan to do that

The million dollar question, did it happen only when braking? I took it out and got on it a bit, but I got no vibration upon acceleration.
