Default couple questions.

I have a 99ex. I know 99 percent of this site is based on Manual transmissions.
My car is an automatic. and around 6 months ago my D4 light began blinking.

I recently read that you can check the light like a check engine light.
So i tried doin that tonight and it blinked 9 times, then stopped and blinked 9 times again. Im confused as to if the code would be 9 or 99. Is there a site where it shows auto tranny codes? maybe like the sticky for check engine light codes. I know auto trannys have alot of solenoids. im hoping its something externial.

Also it started overheating tonight, which is the least of my worries cause it has plenty of coolant, so im thinking waterpump or thermostat.

Any insight or direction would be great.

9 blinks corresponds to the countershaft speed sensor on the transmission. Its a two pin connector and should have 400-600 Ohms of resistance when you take a multimeter to it. Check that connector for a loose connection, bad pins, or an obvious break in the wire.

Post back with what you find.
