Default Ohhh gods of restoration and detailing...

I need help.

The side skirts and rear lip on my Prelude are black plastic, but they're turning gray and dull.

What can I do to make them look decently black? I've tried rubbing compound, Mother's "Back to Black" (which works, but only until it starts raining).

Also, the rubber that's on the window trim is starting to crack. What's a good way to remove it so I can replace it with another rubber strip?

I use a vinyl cleaner.

Odd as it sounds, it works.

Mothers black magic, worked for my integra, although it was a bit greasy, and you have to rub it in hard no pun intended.

Vinyl cleaner and clay bar. Sounds good.

Any ideas regarding the rubber strips on the window trim?

i got the same problem with my prelude. I tried spraying it with oem trim spraypaint, it lasted and looked good for a month, but it kinda washed off, and now it looks like **** again.

clay isnt going to restore the color. Once that plastic turns gray, you have 2 options. Use a cleaner/brightener/conditioner as needed to keep it black, or paint it black with moulding paint.

Dupont Bumper Black FTW. Painted my trim/bumpers/door trim on my 90 STD and they all look brand new.

I used some of this "restore black" stuff that my dad found at walmart, it's just some thick gooey paint and it's back to black for me. But before that, I used canola oil and it worked for some reason haha.
