what is the longest you have driven on a groaning bearing?
I am gonna fix this soon, but I was curious as to the longest everyone has driven on a noisy rear wheel bearing b4 changing it?
I wasn't asking for advice
I have had Honda's for longer than 50% of the people here have been alive.
as I stated in my orig post:
I am fixing it, so don't waste bandwidth telling me to.
I also know how easy it is, been there done that.
ok kiddies?
I was simply curious about the question I asked.
NOT
"How long -can I-...."
BUT
"How long have you-...."

Ha good luck changing a rear wheel bearing w/o changing the hub. Nobody sells just the bearing the sell the whole hub. And if you are looking to save a few bucks, pretty much all the EF(drum and disc brakes) and DA rear wheel hubs are exactly the same, so if you know where you might can find a junk one in good shape your golden. I just used the hub off my old drum trailing arms after I did my disc swap.
It is pretty freaking easy to change since you are just changing the hub, once you get the brakes off then its just one nut, exactly the same nut as the axle nut on the front.
But I once drove hell probably 1000 miles and did a HPDE at Road Atlanta with a bad rear wheel bearing. Probably could have kept going it didn't seem like it was getting any worse, but I changed it cause I was about to do another HPDE and the noise was really starting to drive me nuts.

I drove on a bad wheel bearing in my ef hatch for 4 months!!!
then finally i scored at the junk yard and found a 92' DA in really good condition.
so I got both new front wheel hubs for 60$
which is a steal, since the local machine shop was trying to charge me $50 to press the bearing and 110$ just for the new bearing..

yup
I am glad you know that
It is the bearing in the hub that is noisy not the hub.
I guess I was too specific.

Unfortunately I have no Idea how to break the hub nut loose in a junkyard.
No impact wrench.
If anyone can tell me how to get the rear hub off when the junker has no ebrake

Thank you for answering my question.
Does anyone have a trick to remove the rear spindle nut w/o power tools or the rear breaks to hold the thing still?

im confused, if someone told you 3 years how would that affect anything for your situation seeing how objective and specific it is?
glad to see your fixing it.
