Default 1/8th mile n/a b18c5 track times in dc2

well i went to the track tonight with some bfg's and my setup is:

b18c5 with pct pistons
mildly ported pr3 head
buddy club 3+ cams
aebs intake manifold (port matched)
aem 3" cold air
stock clutch, stock gsr transmission, stock header and stock gsr exhaust
with me in the car it weighs 2800 and i took out the rear seats

best run of the night, my other traps were consistent high 72-73mph and i usually cut a 2.2 60ft

2.18 60ft'
6.3202 330ft
9.6741 1/8 et
73.63 mph

what would you all say my hp is with what i have given, the car is only street tuned and hasn't been on a dyno yet

i beat a 91 rs teg that had a gsr with i/h/e, a 2003 vw gti that is running around 17lbs of boost on the stock turbo and he didnt have an exhaust on it

You need a header/exhaust.

Period.

Right now, you're trapping 1mph over what my 155whp B16 EJ6 coupe trapped.

I agree, seems the power is down compared to a stock c5. Trap is kinda low.

i know, i just cant imagine spending 1300-1500 on a nice header/exhaust setup when i could sell my bottom end, throw a stock ls bottom end and use the 1300-1500 plus the money from the c5 and basically have a 300hp ls/vtec that would walk all over it

unless i can do the n/a route for under 600-700 then it's really not worth it for me to continue on this route

btw when john tuned it he basically said i was running timing maps similar to a turbo car untill we could get it on a dyno and tune it like that

Your timing maps are conservative I'm sure for now.

But the stock header is going to hurt you SO much, along with the stock exhaust.

Buy one of the Edelbrock Pro-Flow 4-2-1 headers, hack off the collector, and weld on a 2.5" collector in its place. They're cheap and effective.

For exhaust, look into a KTeller or SMSP 2.5" piping kit, and weld it up yourself.

As far as those two pieces not being 'worth it,' look at it this way.

You spent the money on a C5 block with VERY high compression, a higher-lift-longer-duration than factory set of cams, and a ported head.

Your engine wants to EXHALE.

I think the traps are very low. Something doesn't seem right.

Your 60 foot is pretty good. Your car is not doing so well up top.

My jdm itr runs a 9.450 with a 2.3 60 foot. crappy intake, narrow headers, 2.5" test pipe, ACT 6 puck clutch w/ CC pressure plate, Toyo R1R's.

I just upgraded my enigne mounts to help out the wheel hop on launch, and I am working on a velocity stack setup. Shooting for a 9.1.

I was running consistant 9.50s @ 71-72 in my 94 GSR at full weight when it just had I/IM and stock exhaust.. trapping about 90-91mph in the 1/4 running 14.9's..

Put an exhaust and cheap ebay header on it and it bumped down to 9.35-9.45's @ 73-74 best time of 14.64@93.46 trapped a consistant 92-93mph.. It dynoed at 157whp but the dyno cut off at 7300rpm..weight vs trap said it was making 165whp or so..

It seems to me that your car is down on power for what you have, BUT you do lack exhaust which will open it up alot

HOLY **** I JUST NOTICED THIS WAS A 3 YEAR OLD THREAD!!! hahaha
