Default VAFC Question.

I just picked up a VAFC to mess around with from a guy very cheap. My question is: Is there anyway I can make sure this thing works before I cut my wiring harness up installing it? Thanks for the help.

My .02: Don't get a VAFC "just to mess around with." Those things are no joke when it comes to engine damage. If you get a VAFC, you need to commit all the way and install it properly, with the intent of tuning with it. Trust me, these things can be bad news if you "just mess around" with them.

I needed something cheap to work with my turbo setup so I picked it up. I just need to know if there is a way to test the unit and make sure that it will work before I cut my harness to install it.

You want something cheap, get crome. It's FREE

Nothing is more essential than a quality tune for your boosted setup.

VAFC will just destroy your motot especially if you don't know how to use it or have any basic concept of internal combustion engines and vtec more importantly.

Alright, let me rephrase the question so that it might get answered:

Is it possible for me to test the VAFC and make sure it works so that I can sell it?

Will wiring the positive wires and the grounds up to my spare battery allow the unit to come on so that I can see if the screen works?

Easier just to sell it. It's a simple unit, I've never heard of one "going bad"

Not worth risking the integrity of your motor to "see" if something works.

Alright. VAFC is bad. You got me there.

So this means I can't straight wire the thing to a battery so that I can make sure it works before I sell it to someone? Or does everything need to be hooked up?

I just need a simple answer.

Just hook it up to a battery, damn kid.

Make sure your mom is there to hold your hand while you do it

Alright done. Just the lights come on and the screen stays blank. I'm assuming it's bad then.

I was just worried about straight wiring it and possibly shorting something.

And yes my mom did hold my had.
