Default p28 ecu idle??

i have a b16a in my ek hatch. I just purchased a jumper harness to convert it to an obd1 from my p72 ecu. When i connected it, the idle was too high.
why would the idle be too high.(the p28 is un-chipped when i try it).
and when i do have the chip in the p28 the cars starts and quickly just dies
any help please??!!

Running a B16 off a stock P28 isn't smart.
You don't know what you are doing with the chipping it sounds like. Get ahold of someone who knows at least a small amount about tuning and your issues should quickly vanish.

i got a p28 with a chip. I took it out because when i tried it with the chip it didnt work too well. So i then tried the p28 with out the chip and it worked and idled but it was too high.

nice, but unless you cut J11 then it wasn't even working correctly... which might explain the high idle. You have to cut J11 in order for the ECU to return to reading the stock ROM. Otherwise, no worky.

You can't just chip a sohc ecu and expect it to magically work for a DOHC engine.

When you chip something you need to tune it.

Let's just start with a tuner.

1. Get a properly chipped/socketed ecu with the proper maping for your motor setup
2. Verify your wiring/harness plugs
3. Install the computer using a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness
4. Start the car & check for codes (check engine light)
