Check Engine and Funny Throttle
Sometimes when I am driving uphill, and I take the car into the 5K-8K RPM range I get a check engine light, right after that I get a strange "exhaust smell" and a check engine light. Once the check engine light comes on, the car does this thing where when I press the throttle the car jerks, and when I lay off the car jerks. Once i turn the car off the check engine light goes away and the car is fine. It doesn't always happen just going up hill, but usually, for instance if i were to say be at 2 1/2K RPMs and took it all the way to 8K RPMs the check engine light would come on.
Any Ideas?

You could have bad mator mounts, causing the motor to rock to much under hard accleration and possibly hitting a sensor in the process (seen it before). first off you need to see what the CEL code is thats being thrown, that will tell you were to start.
I don't think it the mounts, they are fairly new hasport mounts and this problem only happens once in awhile. I think it might have something to do with the oxygen sensor, it only does it under heavy acceleration. However most of the time I hit her so hard she peels out shifting to 2nd with no problems at all. And the jerk feeling only happens once the code is thrown. Unfortunitly the wiring for the CEL code is messed up so I am going to have to rewire it to check the code.

A couple of things I should mention, if I put a normal short ram intake on the car seems to never do it, or very rarely, the way I have my intake right now (Which is essentially an air filter connected to about 3 inches of pipe then directly to the throttle body, very similar to the HKS intake), it seems to happen a lot. My guess is the O2 Sensor, I will disconnect that bastard tonight and see if the code is thrown.
Ok so I disconnected the O2 sensor and the car ran super smooth, now this is an OBD2 motor with an OBD1 conversion. The wiring wasn't done the way I would want it (Perfect), there is loose wires, wire nut caps, electrical tape, etc...
So what I am wondering is there something wrong with the wiring/ecu or is there something wrong with the O2 sensor?
Will it hurt my car to run with the O2 disconnected? (It ran smoother than it has in a longtime)
I am having on and off issues with my IACV, could this be causing the O2 sensor to malfunction?
Thanks guys

Alright I just took her for another ride this morning and I have to say the car is running excellent. The idle is smoother, the power is much better, and the car just feels excellent with the O2 sensor disconnected. Could it be the O2 was making my car run lean? is there anyway to bypass the O2 sensor so the check engine light goes out with it disconnected?

Why not just fix the problem? I bet it has something to do with the wiring or is simply a faulty O2 sensor.

"Why not just fix the problem? I bet it has something to do with the wiring or is simply a faulty O2 sensor."
Well when the O2 sensor is hooked up the check engine light goes away, and is communicating with the ECU. So wouldn't that mean the wiring was working correctly? Also even if the O2 sensor was working correctly wouldn't that be robbing me of some power since it's used to keep the exhaust emission cleaner, NOT provide more performance? Also how would I know if the O2 Sensor was faulty?
