Default Air Conditioning Help.....where does this wire go?

1989 Honda Accord Lxi, 4 cyl. 5spd.

I got the air conditioning charged today, and they said all is good, but there is a wire loose coming from the compressor. Its a white wire and comes out of the bottom of the compressor. It must plug into a relay somewhere I am guessing. It Any ideas?

If it is the wire to the compressor clutch, the original connector was located along the fan shroud of the condensor fan/drivers side.

yes the wire comes straight from the a/c compressor itself. I looked along the shround, and see a big plug, but it looks like all of the wires are in place. Might you have a diagram or picture?

Thanks so much.

The AC compressor should have two wires. One short wire with a pigtail is grounded to the compressor. The clutch wire should be attached to a cylindrical plug that connects to the main wire harness (it may be attached to a holder, near the left-bottom of the front of the radiator).

If you see a big cylinder shape plug with wires in place, that may already be the clutch wire.

You may want to do a google search for 1989 Accord compressor clutch wire.

after looking some more today I did find a 'cylinder' type plug with a broken wire coming offf of it. IT is located on the lower left side of the core support with and does go into the main harness. Here is a picture of it, taken from underneath the car looking up:

I hooked the two wires together and nothing happened with the clutch on the compressor. I hooked the wire coming from the compressor straight to the batter for a second and it did engage the clutch. So the wire coming from the compressor is definately the cluctch wire. Is there a fuse somewhere for the a/c that might be blown? The wire at the bottom of the core support is also white, so I am thinking that is it. Maybe there is a blown fuse that is preventing the clutch from getting power when the two wires are connected.

Any thoughts/ideas?

The other thing is that when the a/c kicked on, the car dropped its idle and just about died. A/C worked well when bringing up the rpm's, but wouldnt hardly idle.

Thanks!!

the A/C clutch fuse is the same fuse as the rear window defroster, drivers side kick panel area
