Default RSX Type-S 5 Speed?

My friend just bought an RSX Type S for about $10,000. It needs a lot of body work and this and that, thats why its $10,000.

My question is.....DOES THE TYPE S come 5-Speed ?

I thought the Type S only came 6-speed.

I thought they were all 5 speeds too. Is it a true type s or convert? Check the engine code, brake size, spoiler, etc

The Type S came with a 6-spd ... 5-spd was available only on the base RSX

look on the block of the motor and see what engine code is listed ... you can mate a 5-spd to that motor ... look for K20A2

You act as if the tranny is the only determinant. Why don't you just check the engine code?

dude you need to check the engine code, or if your lazy go to http://www.carfax.com and type in your vin. If you dont pay the $30 and do the free version it will show you the TRUE title of your car. It will either say the year and then ACURA RSX or ACURA RSX TYPE S

How high does the tach go? Did it come with a bose system? Leather? (i know bases come in leather too but this may help figure it out) Its prolly a base, which is why it was 10k

like everyone said
the type-s is only available in a 6spd manual from the factory
base model is opened to a 5spd manual or auto

check the redline
that will also determine if its a type-s (unless the previous owner swapped that too, but it very unlikely)
but to be 100% sure, take a look at the engine code

if you don't know where the engine code is located just look at the intake manifold. the base has a black plastic manifold.
