220 or 400 to cut at clear??
Okay my painter told me if i cut away the clear cuz its peeling anf lfaking he'll give me a deal on a whole paint job. so he said use 400 but i asked around it was told its too fine of a paper and will create "Waves" so i was told to use 220. who can verify?>
Alot of it depends on if he is gonna seal it or not.
Is he gonna give you a "scuff and shoot"?? what kind of quality that you are looking for and whats is a "deal" to you?

What your painter prob is going to do is let you wetsand it with 400 grit so that he could apply sealer then basecoat. 400 is fine, 220 grit seem a little too coarse unless for sealer then paint.
400 is fine 220 is too rough . if your clear is just gone then 400 will cut that pretty good. then yea he probally witll jsut seal it then base and clear
