Default Need a drag radial tire recommendation for 16" wheels!! (similar to 235/60/15)

I would like the M&H setup (235/60/15) that a bunch of you guys are running, but I have 16" wheels and Im not finding crap. The wheels will be on a 91 Accord, looking for 400+wtq and 450ish whp. Do you guys rec. any particular tire marker that has a decent size to hold my power on the street? I'll take any help at this point.

https://www.hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm. It's a 225/50/16 so it's a bit narrower but the height advantage with the wheel should make up for the shorter tire. They also have the 255 but it's a bit on the large side.

thanks, a 225/50/16 would fit. Do you think it would be enough to hold the power. I'd of course have an lsd and a traction bar

think a 255/50/16 would fit on an accord? i thought i saw a full race civic with 255/50/16s...

edit: it looks like the hoosier DOT drag radials shouldnt be used for hwy purposes? anyone ever run them all the time on the street?

You may have to do some trimming and make really wide turns for the 255's so I would stick with the 225's. I don't think they'd pose an issue driving on the street as long as you keep 25-30psi in them driving on the street. They may be a bit of a hazard in the rain though and generally wear out fast.

I am running 245/50/16 nitto 555r on my EG; I am going to step up to the 255 bfg soon...

You should definately get the 255's or even the 245 nittos, with that much torque you are gonna roast any 225's away until 4th gear.

If your car is at a resonable height and you have the right offset then rubbing shouldn't be too much of an issue. I rub the inner framerail near full lock w/ 245's on my civic; i would think the accord would be better. If i had a little spacer I think the 245's would fit no problem.

I wasn't gonna mention that I did in fact like my BFG's better; because I can't accurately compare the two. Reason being, I bought the 225/50/15 BFG's new, and got the 245/50/16 nitto 555r secondhand and almost used up. The BFG's would dead hook 2nd at one point in their life while my nittos are iffy even in the top of third; consider thats also with worse gearing. No doubt the nittos will give you alot more tire life, but the BFG is the stickier tire for sure. My 225 BFG's lasted around 9000 miles.

Gonna get those 255 bfg's soon, looking for 550+whp on E85.... I will try to snap some pics here in a minute.

thanks man, pics would be great.

I would like to see a 255 on ANY honda for that matter. The only ones I've seen are of the Full Race 700whp black civic, and they look sick.

I hear that the bfg's feel worse in the 245 or 255 width, but im thinking thats due to rim width choices. I have 16x7 (+42mm) 5zigens, think a 255 will be fine on there?

With the tire aired up there is not much difference between the way 16x7 245 feels and a properly sized 205azenis on a 15x6.5 wheel. The 245's look to fit perfect on mine. I was hopking to snap new pics but the rain is having other ideas. I will put up a couple small ones I have right now and better ones tomorrow hopefully.

Is your car silver with flared front fenders?!?!

I've been looking all over for those pics because I want to do something similar to mine.

good idea on that bigger profile for the rear; right now my coilovers are full height in the back and the front still sits a tiny bit higher and looks awkward.

update for anyone with an EG, I was able to hammer in the inner fenders to where the 245 only rubs at FULL lock. I also pulled the fenders out quite a bit, and trimmed part of the bumper where the tire would rub only with suspension travel. Just need to do something to my bumper to make it match up to my newly widened fenders.
