Default Honda Fit Suspension Load Charactersistics

Q: How much does the body squat over the suspension say if you had the driver and 4 passengers, each at about 180lbs in the car?

Q: And how much worse would it get if there was about 125lbs of luggage in the trunk?

I want to know how the cars behavior changes, a: how much lower it gets, b: does it have rubbing issues, and if there are problems with this, c: is there a suspension combination of shocks and springs which can better handle a fully loaded car? Also, d: will I have to get tires with a higher load (LB) capacity?

I drive with the family frequently so I just wanted to know how people on here fare with 4 passengers and cargo.

Thanks in advance.

Big group, eh? I'm sure the car is snubbered correctly, and with that much weight, you may bottom out. These compact cars are not really made for big loads. No offense taken, I hope.

think of it this way, throw 100 lbs of books in your backpack and go for a run, it will slow you down, as far as how much squat? the only way to know is to load her up with 900 lbs of stuff and find out. you most likely wont have rubbing issues because the engineers would factor things like this in but it will take you much longer to get up to speed and your braking distances will increase. the tires will be fine and i dont know of anyone who makes a spring at OEM length that is heavier for more weight although I am sure someone would make one if you have the $.
the Fit will be just fine just dont go throwing her off of curbs and things like that.

At 845lbs you'd be 5lbs shy of the 850lbs limit recommended by Honda.

The only problem I think you'll have is very sluggish acceleration.

Thanks guys. I know it may seem like a dumb question but theres a reason why a lot of people buy these cars, partially because of the 5 door design and need for passenger seating.

That being said, I'm not always going to have 4 passengers in the car, but it would be nice to know that the car has the capability to handle four adult passengers and not end up causing a dangerous suspension change in the process.

Thanks again.
