i have a 1993 honda civic non-vtec 1.5 , when the car starts if it feels like starting,, i idles fine but ehen you go hit the gas the tach drops and the vacuum drops to zero and the engine seems to putter and forget about driving anywhere it will die out. And if i hold the gas down full throttle i get a check engine light for a code 1 which is the o2 senor , i have checked the plugs and they are black meaning they are burning rich. please help am lost

It may have something to do with the fuel injectors. :/
If they're acting wacked up when you press the gas pedal (which opens up the throttle valve to let in more air) They might not be providing enough fuel which may cause some freaking when the fuel-less air gets to your cylinders :[ that causes the engine to run lean..

but in your case, you're running rich. meaning that there's too much fuel. vice versa. which causes the engine to run crappy. check the injectors maybe?

 

AND the throttle valve. there may be insufficient air supply due to a malfunction in the throttle valve.
