Sheriff sending me to CHP inspection (stock exhaust) - intake mani question too
This morning the lady sheriff pulls me over (2000 Civic Si) and tells me I was "driving like an absolute ***." Then she asks, "Who modified your exhaust?" I told her it is bone-stock Honda factory exhaust and she says yeah right then why is it so loud? Carb-legal AEM CAI perhaps? But I digress...
In my garage is a loud-*** 2.5" straight-thru system that I had already removed because, well damn, it's LOUD.
she goes to her car and comes back with my lic/reg/ins. and says she doesn't have time to write me up but i should expect a citation in the mail to get my exhaust inspected by the CHP. Ok so that means I reconnect the secondary O2, put in the stock ECU and header, no big deal. HOwever I still have the Blox IM/RC 310's and B&M FPR installed.
If this is for a supposed exhaust inspection, is it only outside/visual, or will i have to pop my hood? will they plug into my system at all, expecting to see obd2?
I think my next question is regarding the intake manifold. I think I have only swapped intake mani with the motor on an engine stand, never inside the car. Is it worth removing the head for ease of installation, or is the intake mani swap do-able with the head in the car? Some of those nuts underneath just seem like a bitch to get to.
Another reason I am considering pulling the head is to put on a thicker gasket to lower compression because I have CTR pistons, 91 octane, and I will have to use the stock ECU....but the fact that the manifold installation is that much easier is part of the idea.
Thanks for reading. I guess all I'm looking for is anyone's experiences with A)CHP exhaust inspections and B) intake manifold swaps and C) CTR piston compression on a stock EM1 (P2T?) ECU. (i passed smog last year with CTR pistons and stock ECU, but i had the thicker head gasket on and i don't know how it will run with a stock head gasket and ECU....)

OFFICER CHP PULLS ME OVER I TELL HIM TO READ MAI RIGHTS AND HE CANT DO ****... NOW BIKE OFFICERS I STFU AND LISTEN
how to you get a torque wrench in there to be sure the manifold is properly installed?
there has got to be some more people on this board that has been through the CHP modified exhaust inspection. what is it like when you actually show up?

omg DUDE!

ok so check this out. i swapped the stock manifold and injectors back in and burned a stock basemap for the stock injectors. it worked great last time, but last time i had a thick headgasket (.062") to pass smog with the stock ecu. Since then I put on a stock headgasket to bump up the compression for the Blox IM & RC310's and adjustable FPR. Now I have the stock gasket/injectors/manifold/FPR, and it was way too lean, according to the wideband. I had to burn another chip using CROME and adjusted the injectors from (old)240's to (new)225 and it worked out quite well, if not a tad rich at WOT. I thought it was quite interesting at least.

thanks. my next step is the header and secondary o2 sensor. will they see the cat under my lowered car and be done, or will they lift it up to check for the sensor in place? sorry for being paranoid but i want to cover all the bases jst in case.

they just look at the muffler see if it looks stock then tell you turn on the car and rev it a little to see how it sounds that's it
