Default I NEED HELP! Please reply...

Right peeps,

I have an 01 Civic Coupe. 47k on the clock. Its in good condition BUT...

My mate had the same car before me and he said if I want to make it sound a little more agressive, take the air intake box off. ( Not the filter, just the box located on the front left of the engine ) He ran his car like this and it was great.

So...a few months ago I did the same. It was fine. Sounded nice when I put my foot down. Took it down to my local Honda dealer and he said, fair enough, it should be okay like that, no probs.

BUT, I was out in my car the last few days and when I am in fith aproaching 90ishpmh the engine started to struggle. Almost like it was about to cut out despite only being around 4/5k rpm?????!!!???

Is my problem related to the air intake box? I dont think it is, but what else could it be? Its due a service anyway but what else could cuase this? Its fine in the lower gears. No power loss or anything like that.

Please help me out here...

i highly doubt it is the air intake box. have you tried taking it to a mechanic and getting it inspected

No. Not yet. Im taking it round my mates tonight to let hi take a look. He's starting work on his 200sx tonight so he said he would see what he could find.

What could it be though? Fuel not going through properly maybe? It drinks alot of fuel when its going 90ish.

Might be a fuel injector issue, but to be honest, I doubt there's anything really going wrong. The car typically tops out in the 100 - 115 range.

Nope. The car tops out around 120ish and it would be around the 6,800rpm mark. I have had it out to those speeds before racing a pug 106 gti and it was fine. There is defo a real problem now tho. The rev needle stops around 5rpm and then gives up. I quickly shifted out to another gear so I dunno weather it would have stalled.

I think you might be on to something with the injectors tho, my mate just text me the same thing.

Cheers for the help peeps, I appreciate it...

If you have any more ideas send them this way...
