Default Yet another "should I buy this S" thread

Ok I've seen so many of these-I think I learned what I'm supposed to do.

quick q for ya.

theres a really really clean S2k.. silver.

01 58k on it.. clutch is fine. brakes are great. convertible top's window is clouded(the 01 has the shitty plastic one). the tires are a bit worn but in very good shape. the guy used mobil 1 synthetic and changed every 10k.

maybe like a handful of less than one inch scratches on the paint).. clean title, interior is great. the guy is like a car FREAK and you can tell he knows it in and out(he was PISSED when I showed him the secret compartment lol). driven in summer only, MA car.

he wants 16.3k. blue books in good condition at 15.7, in "EXCELLENT" at 16.7 or so.

what should I offer him? 16? is it a good deal?

thanks for the help

signed,

mike the future S owner

changing synthetic oil every 10k is not good. so hes only changed his oil 5 times in 6 yrs?

a new top is 1-2k installed.

id offer him 14k, he will say 15k, then meet in the middle at 14.5k.

why push the oil to its limits. I would rather replace the oil before it started to wear to its limit.

i would stay away from it based on the 10k oil changes. i have no real reason for saying that, but that really seeems like a long time. i do mine every 2500-3000

its not even the mileage, its the time. oil breaks down over time. 5 times in 6 yrs is less than 1 change a yr. the additives break down quicker than that. and i personally dont trust 10k miles on oil, even if it is synthetic. id keep looking around for another s2k, or offer him a low amount and see if he accepts it.
