what front forks do i use for a h22 swap in my 88 ef?

what front forks do i use for a h22 swap in my 88 ef?
i did an h22 swap in my ef, and i used my stock front forks, but with the hasport axles i used it was to big for some reason. i had to grind out the inside of the forks to fit, is that normal? or i use a different front forks.
